West Valley Community Services, Inc. (WVCS) is a private non-profit, community-based agency that has been providing direct assistance and referral services to the west valley communities of Santa Clara County for over 35 years. Founded in 1973, WVCS provides a continuum of basic needs, family support services and housing services including: information and referrals, food pantry, clothing, rotating shelter, transitional housing, affordable housing, financial assistance, family support and case management services. WVCS serves the west valley communities of Cupertino, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga, West San Jose and the unincorporated mountain regions.

Opened October 30, 2004, the new Cupertino Library is a 54,000 sq. ft. building on two floors, featuring a central courtyard that brings natural light into both levels of the library and a 16 ft. 4,000 gallon salt-water aquarium that was a gift to the city and to the library by the Fed and Annie Chan family. The library’s collect of 320,000 volumes includes books, periodicals, compact discs, audio and video cassettes, CD-ROMs, DVDs, e-books, and downloadable audiobooks.

Adults over age 50 can find a full calendar of opportunities for learning, volunteering, and enjoying life. There are exercise classes (over 30 hours a week), a computer lab and classes, language instruction including English as a second language, and cultural and special interest classes. The Senior Center provides all these opportunities due to a dedicated group of volunteers. They help at the front desk, assist the travel coordinator, work with the case manager, host our parties and events, and serve on the Advisory Council overseeing it all in a new state-of-the-art building.

The City of Cupertino's Robert W. Quinlan Community Center is a 27,000 square foot facility that provides a variety of recreational opportunities. Most prominent is the Cupertino Room which is a multi-purpose room that can accommodate 300 people in a banquet format. Cupertino Quinlan Center is also home to the Cupertino Historical Society, a wonderful museum of local history, as well as the offices of Cupertino Community Services.

The purpose of Live Oak Adult Day Care is to support older adults and their family caregivers in maintaining independence and a quality lifestyle at affordable cost. Live Oak Adult Day Services operates five Senior Day Centers for frail and health-impaired seniors. The daily program is designed to help older adults maintain or improve their mental and physical status. The activities include music, exercise, crafts, word games, travelogues, discussions, and nature videos. A hot lunch and a nutritious breakfast are served, as well as morning and afternoon snacks.
